“I love getting up early and capturing the sunrise over those peaks,” says Nina. “Polly and I will pack a thermos of coffee and just soak it all in. It’s the perfect way to start the day.”
Be sure to stop in Stanley for a quick caffeine fix or a sweet treat, and don’t miss the chance to visit the serene alpine lakes like Little Redfish, Redfish, and Alturas along the way.
Ride the Gondola

“The views from the top of Bald Mountain are absolutely stunning,” gushes Gretchen. “And the Roundhouse Restaurant at the summit is the perfect spot to refuel with a cold drink and a delicious meal before heading back down.”

“We love just finding a nice spot along the river to let Polly cool off and dig in the dirt,” says Nina. “It’s the perfect way to take a break from all the hiking and biking.”
For an even more designated dog-friendly area, head to the Sun Peak BLM Picnic Area just north of town, where you and your canine companion can relax in the shade and enjoy the soothing sounds of the flowing water.

“It’s always so much fun to see all the happy pups running around and playing together,” gushes Gretchen. “The dogs always seem to make fast friends, and the humans enjoy chatting and swapping stories.”
